Please join us for the inaugural launch of the 7th Global India Meeting, November 19, 2020, 9:00-11:00 hrs (CET); 13:30-15:30 hrs (IST). The Welcome address will be done by Rahul Mukherji, Professor and Head, Department of Political Science and Executive Director, South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University at 09:00 am (CET). The Inaugural Remarks will be made by Aurel Croissant, Professor of Political Science, and Dean, Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, Heidelberg University.

A talk on The Reinvention of Citizenship in the New India will be addressed by Niraja Gopal Jayal, Professor, Centre for the Study of Law and Governance, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Amrita Narlikar, President, German Institute for Global and Area Studies, and Professor of Political Science and International Relations, University of Hamburg will discuss India’s Foreign Economic Policies under Narendra Modi. It will be followed by a Q&A (10:30-11:00 am).

FRIDAY 20 NOVEMBER

A Panel Discussion on Changing Contours of Indian Democracy, Challenges and Pitfalls, will be held November 20, 2020 (Friday), 15:00-17:00hrs (CET), 19.30-21.30 hrs (IST). Our speakers will be chaired by John Harriss, Emeritus Professor, Simon Fraser University. The Speakers are Aruna Roy Founder, Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan (MKSS) and Ramon Magsaysay Award winner; Prashant Bhushan Senior advocate and public interest lawyer, New Delhi; Suhas Palshikar Former Professor of Political Science, Savitribai Phule Pune University and Chief Editor, Studies in Indian Politics; Rahul Mukherji Professor and Head, Department of Political Science, and Executive Director, South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University.

Eileen Connolly, Professor of Law & Government, Dublin City University will be closing the panel discussion.
