Prof. Shantanu Chakrabarti

Biography

Shantanu Chakrabarti currently holds the position of Professor in the Dept. of History, University of Calcutta, India. He also holds the honorary position of the Convenor of the Academic Committee, Institute of Foreign Policy Studies at the University of Calcutta. He is a former Research Fellow of the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), New Delhi, India. His key research areas include: South Asian regional dynamics; Security Studies with special focus on privatization of security and comprehensive security agenda in Asia; Connectivity process in Asia: historical and contemporary trends and Indian foreign policymaking.  His research publications include 7 monographs and edited volumes along with numerous essays in edited volumes and peer reviewed journals. Prof. Chakrabarti is a member of the editorial Board of the Stosunki Międzynarodowe-International Relations, Journal of the Institute of International Relations, University of Warsaw and also a member of the Advisory Board of the UNISCI (Research Unit on International Security and Cooperation), University of Madrid.

He is the recipient of the Order Bene Merito, the civilian award of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of the Republic Poland in 2014. He was also recently awarded the Visiting Fellowship under the Erasmus Mndus IBIES staff mobility programme( 2015-2016).
