Biography

Suresh Bhagavatula is a Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). He was until recently the Chair of the Entrepreneurship Area as well as the Chair of NS Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL). His research interests are in two overlapping domains – entrepreneurship and social networks. In entrepreneurship, he looks at both low (handloom) and high technology firms in India. Within the social network domain, he is interested in understanding the influence of social capital on the performance of entrepreneurs and teams. His research work has been published in Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, International Small Business Journal and Management and Organization Review. He has a PhD from Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam and an MS from Flensburg University, Germany and a BE from Shivaji University. He runs two ventures before starting his PhD and was one of the co-founders of the organisation HeadStart, which runs a monthly event called Startup Saturday, which is now spread across 12 cities in India.
